See & Do

Whether you're in Bali alone, on a couples retreat or a family get away, there are activities to suit everyone! Here are some of the ones I've participated in.
In Bali, I always try to try something I haven't done before so this page will be added to and updated after I have personally participated in a new tourist adventure.
  • Waterbom Park
A fun day out for kids, teenagers and adults. Get entry discounts from street vendors and get there at opening time to avoid queues. Click here.
  • Bali Safari and Marine Park
A great way to get up close and personal with the animals. Book a driver for the day, get them to book you in to get it a bit cheaper and so you don't miss out on an elephant ride. Packages available to suit all budgets. Click here.
  • Bali Zoo and Treetop Adventure Park
Make a day of it and do the Bali Zoo and the Treetop Adventure Park in one hit. They're located right next to each other! Click here. Please note that the website is quite misleading in that the Zoo is actually quite run down compared to what is portrayed on the website and some photos appeared to be taken from other establishments.
  • Bali Dolphins
An up-close and personal experience with dolphins. Book as far in advance as possible to avoid missing out. Don't confuse this with swimming with the dolphins in Lovina. Click here.
  • Bamboo Shoots Cooking School
An informal, but fun cooking class in Sanur. Easy recipes to transfer to your own kitchen. Sit back and watch or get hands on with the cooking. Includes a market tour and breakfast. Click here.
  • Water-sports
Water-sports such as banana boating, jet skiing, parasailing and snorkelling can be found along Sanur beach. Because Sanur has such calm waters, it's the perfect spot for all of these things and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
  • Bali Hai Lembongan Pontoon
A great way to get a feel for beautiful Lembongan Island. Includes hotel pick up and drop off, boat transfers to the Bali Hai pontoon at Lembongan, unlimited snorkelling, banana boat roads, use of the pontoon, lunch and a short tour of one the islands villages. Take something for sea sickness just in case. Click here.
  • Tegallalang Rice Fields
  • Ubud Markets
If you're doing one, you might as well do the other. Stop for photos or a walk through the rice fields, get to the markets to find some different items before having lunch in Ubud.
  • East Bali Bike tour
The perfect compromise of sightseeing, adventure and a bit of culture. Get a feel for East Bali with this bike ride. Ride alongside rice fields, peanut and chilli crops on the quiet roads between Amed and Candi Dasa. Take a walk through some Rice a Fields for a bit of culture and finish at White Sand Beach for a delicious lunch and a swim. Click here.
  • Taro Elephant Park
Owned by an Aussie, this park is well maintained and the elephants well looked after. Have a ride, feed, pet, have photos with, watch the show and have the delicious lunch. Even stay for a night or two.
    • White Sand Beach
Whether you're visiting after the East Bali Bike tour, en route to or from somewhere else or looking for a day purely for relaxation in the sun, White Sand Beach is a great place to stop. Plenty of warung's to choose from, lounges right on the beach and an incredible view. Keep an eye on the tides so you don't go when it's too rough for swimming.
    • Quad biking
If you're up for a bit of adventure, but nothing too extreme, quad biking might be for you. North of Semimyak at Yeh Gangga Beach is Aussie Bali Adventures. Ride along the beach, along side rice fields and through a local village. A great way to see some beautiful scenery and have a bit of fun. The track is quite tame and you can go at your own pace. Take your kids along and have them ride tandem with you. The company is Aussie owned and run, all the bikes are kept in top condition. Click here.
Please note the quad bikes have recently been purchased by Bali Island Horse. Although now run by a different companies, the 2 work together and is held in the same location. It is still Australian owned and run.
    • White Water Rafting
Sobek is my company of choice. Book a few days in advance from a street vendor to get the best price; I paid $55 per person. There are 2 options for the ride: Ayung River for less of a challenge and for those with kids or the Telaga Waja for something a bit more extreme. Click here.
    • Stand Up Paddle Boarding
An awesome way to start the morning. Have a lesson if you've never done it before or just hire a board for a couple of hours if you know what you're doing. Held in Sanur. Click here.
    • Finn's Beach Club
An amazing place to spend a day. Located in Uluwatu where the sand is white (ish) and the water is blue. Cost is 250,000 Rupiah per person. 150,000 is credited for food and drink. Cost includes towel, lounge or beanbag on the beach and use of equipment such as kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Go at low tide. Click here.
